Brazil global admits United offer
Manchester United attempted to sign Alexandre Pato on transfer deadline day according to the Brazilian global striker.
Apart from the Red Devils, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland were also said to be linked with the forward, but he instead declared that he had no intentions of leaving his current side.
Seemingly arriving two hours before the transfer window closed, the offer came too late for the Brazilian to make a move to Manchester.
The 25-year-old is on loan at Sao Paulo until the end of the year from rivals Corinthians who want to sell him.
‘I was expecting it, but actually only found out about it afterwards’. “My focus is now here”, he told SporTV.
Pato added: “I won’t lie to you that I think yes [about the future]”. I talk about this with my family, people close to me.
During his time at Sao Paulo, he has rediscovered some of his best form which has reignited rumours of a return to European football.
“I would like to stay but it doesn’t depend on just me”, he said.
“But I am working, I’m very focused on Sao Paulo, I can’t stop thinking of my future, but my focus is Sao Paulo“.
Pato scored 51 goals in 117 games for the Milan club and 10 in 27 caps for Brazil.
Most of this was dismissed as paper talk but now the player himself appears to have confirmed that there was an offer from United no less.
