Victor Valdes Rumours Emerge Amid Asmir Begovic Fears — Chelsea Transfer News
Courtois has undergone surgery since being injured in training earlier his month.
Chelsea are trying to push through an emergency loan move for Manchester United star Victor Valdes, according to reports.
Now, Chelsea fans here in the Tavern are still struggling to come to terms with the news that first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out with injury for a sizeable amount of time.
The Daily Mail claims the Blues fear losing Asmir Begovic to injury.
Chelsea are reportedly considering signing an emergency goalkeeper.
Mourinho’s men have been uncharacteristically awful at the back so far in 2015-16-only bottom-of-the-table Sunderland have conceded more than the Blues’ 12 goals-a problem that would only be exacerbated should Begovic pick up an injury or suspension.
Valdes had been expected to leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window after falling out of favour with Louis van Gaal.
Valdes would be a brilliant backup to bring in, as he is hugely experienced at the top level, having spent over a decade at Barcelona and won three Champions League titles. Juan Pablo Carrizo from Inter Milan, Miguel Angel Moya at Atletico Madrid and Porto keeper Helton have all been shortlisted should a move for Valdes break down owing to differences between the two clubs.
But asked about the possibility at a press conference this afternoon, Mourinho was clear that he is not about to ask the Premier League to grant his side an emergency loan deal to sign Valdes.
