Sigourney Weaver Joins ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot
Anticipation is already high for director Paul Feig’s forthcoming female-led Ghostbusters reboot – but fans of the original 1980 movie will be delighted by the director’s latest announcement. Unfortunately, like the rest of those actors, it’s unlikely that Weaver is going to be reprising her original role (and as a result, it’s a little hard to see what the point is of having them all make a return in this movie). She appeared within the 1st two films as the long-lasting character.
Thats right. With news about to leak regarding her involvement, Feig took to social media to spoil a cameo he tried to keep under wraps.
“Ghostbusters 3” will star Kate McKinnon (Jillian Holtzmann), Leslie Jones (Patty Tolan), Melissa McCarty (Abby Yates), and Kristen Wiig (Erin Gilbert).
Over the past couple months, we’ve reported on a few cameos being made in Paul Feig’s reboot of Ghostbusters by cast members of the original 1984 paranormal comedy.
In case you needed a reminder, Weaver was in the first and second Ghostbusters – you might recall her as Zuul or as Dana.
Weaver recently announced interest in appearing the new film. “You’re an ass”, he said to one twitter user who insulted one of his stars. “I haven’t talked to Danny [Aykroyd] about it”, he said.
Feig’s “Ghostbusters” reboot will also feature a cameo from Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, however it is rumored Murray will not reprise his role as Dr. Peter Venkman.
