Mustard Minute: Kobayashi ate a goat to end Cubs curse
That’s the legendary hex that’s been on the team since 1945, when the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern and his pet goat were kicked out of Wrigley Field during the World Series.
As for the Cubs, they’re three games away from seeing their first postseason run since 2008. When he was ordered to remove the goat, he claimed to place a curse on the team that would prevent it from ever hosting another World Series at Wrigley Field.
If that’s the case, Kobayashi and his crew will be heroes in Chicago; and seeing as the Cubs wrapped up a historic win against the Brewers last night, they’re off to a good start.
On Monday night time, Chicago aggressive eater Tim “Gravy” Brown was out in town with a fellow professional once they had an concept: Eat a goat to reverse the Curse.
Five guys…including noted Competitive Eating Champion Kobayashi gathered around the “Goat”…all 40lbs of it and proceeded over the span of 12 minutes to make it all go away.
You’ve heard of the the Cubs’ Curse of the Billy Goat, right?
Together, the four of them ate 40 pounds – FORTY POUNDS – of goat in a single, 12-minute sitting.
Of all the odd, amusing and just plain insane things we’ve seen that are either directly or indirectly related to Sports, this might actually take the cake.
