Columbus Short not `jailed` for battery but sentenced 3yrs probation
A witness testified at a December hearing that Short delivered a running punch during a fight in March 2014, causing Fenton Hyche III to lose consciousness and fall to the ground at a family gathering.
Actor Columbus Short pleaded no contest Thursday to punching a man and knocking him out at a West Los Angeles restaurant past year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
According to People, in addition to the three years of formal probation the 33-year-old actor will also have to serve 60 days of community service and has been ordered to complete 26 anger management classes.
He was arrested again July 19, 2010, on suspicion of battery with great bodily injury and later for failing to appear on a court case. Short was convicted of disturbing the peace and placed on three years’ probation.
He blamed his troubles on drugs and alcohol in a previous interview with Access Hollywood. Short told the show.
Following Short’s arrest, his wife filed for divorce and was granted a temporary restraining order after alleging Short had threatened to kill her and himself.
Ex-Scandal star Columbus Short may be rejoicing right now as he just dodged a jail sentence for a brutal crime that occurred previous year.
