Dr M didn’t make Najib PM, Malaysians did, minister says
“These people cost billions of ringgit but their advise were generally not good for the country. It is totally democratic to demand for his removal”, Dr Mahathir wrote.
“The economy can only recover after he steps down”. So, in 2013, it was the people or the voters and not Dr Mahathir who made Najib the Prime Minister.
1Malaysia Development is being probed by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation over money laundering, while the US Justice Department is looking into property purchases associated with a family member of Prime Minister Najib Razak.”There are Malaysia-specific factors that make the ringgit such an underperformer”, said Tim Condon, head of Asia research at ING Groep NV in Singapore.
Dr Mahathir also went on to claim that the prime minister’s departure will help resolve the country’s currency and cost of living woes.
As such, the Prime Minister called on everyone to unite to protect each other regardless of religion.
He added the call was “nothing personal”. It’s clear from the story that Najib had something to do with the Altantuya killing.
“In fact, I noticed very early in his premiership, that things were going wrong”.
They knew nothing about the politics, economics and sensitivities of Malaysia.
Besides antagonizing the civil service by bringing in British advisers and foreign consultants, said Mahathir, Najib has also alienated the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) by setting up Pemandu to take over its job and with a salary scheme far above the government level.
“So annoyed were the civil servants that a few, upon retirement, joined the opposition party and stood as opposition candidates, something which never happened before”, he added.
Dr Mahathir said Malaysians should also demand that Najib allows the investigation against him to be carried out by independent parties, instead of those he had appointed. “Dr Mahathir was just one voter among 11 million voters”, the communications and multimedia minister said in his blog today.
