Hugh Jackman Wants Tom Hardy to Be the Next Wolverine
Hugh Jackman will play Wolverine for the final time in 2017, and while very little is known about the movie at this point, it has previously been revealed that Patrick Stewart’s Professor X will be showing up.
“I don’t want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me”, he joked.
I’ve still got one more to do. According to Jackman, the father/son relationship between Wolverine and Charles Xavier is a big part of what the film is about. “So that’s why I don’t wanna say “Yes” for sure, because until Page 115, 120, whatever it is…”
So when he retires from the role, who should take it over? He’s been portraying the character for nearly two decades and he knows it’s time to move on, but Wolverine on film won’t just go away.
Hugh Jackman will be retiring as Wolverine very soon, but the actor has a suggestion for who might be able to replace him. In the meantime we can look forward to seeing him in X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27th, 2016 and Wolverine 3 on March 3rd, 2017. I’ve just made the commitment to myself really, and told everyone until that script is ideal, until it is that flawless way to sign out, I’m not going to start shooting… It just felt like it was the right time to do it.
What do you think of Jackman’s dream-casting?
Thanks to the success of Fury Road, genre fans seem to be considering Hardy for just about everything these days, but it’s particularly interesting that Jackman was willing to drop his name. Are you intrigued by the idea of exploring the father/son relationship between Professor X and Wolverine?
