Zouma apologised to Costa over ‘cheat’ remark
And the honour unsurprisingly goes to striker Diego Costa.
“It is my second year in England and my English is not ideal”. Everybody can do mistakes. That day, I did.
“I never thought Diego is a cheat”. He is a friend. “I like this guy”, Zouma added. “He should not change”.
“English is not my first language, so I did not mean it. He told me: “It’s OK, no problem”.
“He understood what I tried to say but the most important thing is to move on”.
He said: “I did a mistake because I just wanted to say that Diego likes to put pressure on his opponent”.
Speaking to BeIN Sports earlier this week, Zouma said: “No, we’re not surprised because we know Diego”. He is so friendly. Diego is the craziest guy in the club. He is too amusing.
Chelsea keeper Asmir Begovic reveals that Diego Costa is as competitive in training as he is in matches, with the Spain striker setting the tone for the rest of the team.
“His behaviour against Arsenal seven days ago has put him and Jose Mourinho in the headlines once again and you can’t help think there will be a point down the line when Chelsea wonder if he is worth all the aggravation he brings”, wrote Carragher in his Daily Mail column. Costa was also involved in an off the ball brawl with Laurent Koscielny, which prompted referee Mike Dean to show yellow cards to both players.
“This is how I see Costa: he is the main centre forward for one of the best teams in Europe so of course he is going to get chances to score”.
“I used to play as John Terry [on the Playstation]! So we encourage him to set the tone for the rest of the team”.
