Bransford Elementary Evacuated After Bomb Threat
Furry Elementary School was evacuated due to a bomb threat that may include surrounding houses, according to Perkins Township Police Department.
INITIAL REPORT: The fire department has been dispatched to a possible bomb threat at a school in West Chester Twp.
Around 1 p.m., crews began escorting students were moved from the elementary school to nearby Lakota West High School’s freshman campus to wait for parents to retrieve them for the day. The “all clear” was given shortly before 2 p.m.
After announcing that bus transportation will not be available this afternoon, Matt Cramner, Liberty-Benton’s transportation supervisor, later announced that bus transportation will be provide at the usual dismissal time.
Parents were notified about the evacuation by the school via text and voicemail messages, according to a parent who called The Courier newsroom.
According to Director of Schools Patrick Cripps, the students, as well as staff members at the school were transported to Northside Elementary School while a search of the school is being conducted.
Hamill said that there has been an increase in bomb threat calls recently and officials are working hard to find the person responsible.
“Right now we’re just using precaution and we can’t take any chances with it”, Klyce said.
