Ford Launches the New Figo to Compete with Swift and Grand i10
Ford has launched its second new auto in the form of the next generation Figo packed with the same engine options as its compact sedan sibling.
Ford Figo is the second consecutive launch by the US-based automobile company in the past two months, after it launched Ford Figo Aspire.
There are three engine options to choose from. The Figo is also available with a 1.5-liter motor paired to a 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 1.2-litre petrol can give out 64.7 KW of power and 112 Nm, the 1.5-litre petrol does 82.3 KW and 136 Nm while the 1.5-litre diesel can give out 74 KW and 215 Nm of torque. The 1.2-Litre petrol produces 88PS of power and comes mated to the now familiar 5-speed manual ‘IB5′ gearbox. This engine in the same state of tune is found on the Aspire, has won hearts for its responsiveness and strong mid-range and is definitely the one to look out for. The petrol and diesel engines deliver fuel economy of 18.16 km/litre and 25.83 km/litre, respectively, the company said. The larger hearted petrol automatic is rated to deliver an impressive 17km/L.
Sharing the similar configuration as the Figo Aspire given the new Ford Figo has an edge over the others in its segment.
The auto has a boot capacity of 257 litres. It is available in 7 colours – ruby red, sparkling gold, oxford white, tuxedo black, deep impact blue, ingot silver and smoke grey. The vehicle is also kitted with MyFord Dock – a feature that offers drivers a unique solution for storing, mounting and charging mobile phones, MP3 players and satellite navigation systems, and for integrating these devices into the car’s entertainment system. So the new Figo is right up there with the competition when it comes to equipment and is nearly on par with the Hyundai Elite i20 and the Honda Jazz.
It’s festival time once again and auto marketers are pulling out all marketing stops to attract new footfalls in showrooms. It still holds true the value for money tag and and will appeal to those who want most bang for their buck.
“Built on Ford’s latest global platform, the all-new Figo is an able and worthy successor to one of Ford’s well-known and trusted nameplates in India”, Nigel Harris, Managing Director and President, Ford India, said here at the launch. Stay tuned.
