Why Robert De Niro Walked Out Of An Interview
This is what an interviewer, Emma Brockes with Radio Times, learned after attempting to conduct an interview with the Meet the Parents actor; asking him questions that he refused to answer until he abruptly ended the interview by telling her to pause the recorder and walked out.
Naomi Campbell stormed out of a 2010 interview with ABC news kicking their camera over on the way when a reporter asked the supermodel if she had received a blood diamond from the deposed Liberian despot Charles Taylor.
Brockes claims that after she did as he asked, De Niro started pacing around the room and complained about the “negative interference” of her bankers comment.
Brockes replied: “I have to say, now that you’re going on about it, it makes me think you were on auto-pilot and you’re super-sensitive about it”.
The star took offence: “Negative inference”.
“That said, I’m very happy to be at a premiere where no one looks like they need a drink”, she told Variety at the Tavern on the Green after-party. “I’m not doing this, darling, ‘ he says”.
Perhaps the endless publicity trail around Nancy Meyers’ forthcoming film The Intern is all getting too much for Robert De Niro.
“But tequila is my beverage of choice, and I drink it far more responsibly than I did when I was in my twenties”.
Brockes told The Guardian she “felt sympathy” for De Niro, who had been at the junket all day, but insisted she wasn’t hostile.
Sharing his views on the incident in the Daily Mail, Morgan writes that De Niro was a “bloody nightmare” when he interviewed him on CNN several years ago and criticises the actor’s conduct towards journalists generally, saying: “It’s as if he prides himself on being a total douchebag”.
Robert De Niro looks kind of grouchy. He was married, now he’s widowed, retired and bored of it. De Niro plays him as so nice, and so cuddly that he’s almost alien. “If my opinion is really needed by someone or people that I work with, of course, I give it very easily!” “I don’t know what else to do”, he laughed.
At least he didn’t say “You talkin’ to me?”
Meanwhile, the actress rocked a semi-sheer Rodarte 2015 fall gown at the premier of the movie held at Ziegfeld Theater in New York on September 21, Monday, Hollywood Life reported. “But I genuinely thought he was great in this film, so I thought we’d probably get along OK”.
