Sam Smith’s Bond ballad released
The Grammy and BRIT Award victor will unveil his eagerly anticipated anthem “The Writing’s on the Wall” today (25.09.15) – which will serve as the main soundtrack for new movie “SPECTRE” – and he admits the pressure to meet the high standard of previous Bond themes is “quite intense”. Fans can now weigh in.
It’s happening…Listen to the radio from 7.45am if you’d like to hear Writing’s On The Wall.
“I tried to put myself in the shoes of Bond”, Smith explains. So “Writing’s On The Wall” has everything you’ve come to expect from a Sam Smith song – lovely vocals, lovelorn agony – with all the sweeping grandeur of what we associate with Bond.
He sings: ‘I’ve spent a life time running and I always get away / But with you, I’m feeling something that makes me want to stay …
Sounds like mission accomplished to us.
The song is available to stream on Apple Music or Spotify, and for purchase in the iTunes store. Love Sam Smith. Hate the song. Yes.
He posted on Twitter: “Is this the worst Bond movie theme song ever?”
Though the singer originally denied he was slated as the newest Bond theme-r, he announced in early September via Instagram he was indeed the chosen one.
SPECTRE, the 24th James Bond adventure, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is set for release in the United Kingdom on October 26th, and in the USA on November 6th.
He said: “It’s a ideal combination of Sam meets Sam. Taking its cue from a moment in the film where Bond sees his name spray-painted on the Memorial Wall of the derelict MI6 headquarters. I adore this song”.
