Strait announces surprise album, Vegas shows
Strait’s latest album, “Cold Beer Conversation“, comes out Friday, with 13 songs, including his latest single, the title track. ‘I think it’s a great record. I always shoot for that … you’ve gotta go in the studio thinking that way.
You kind of took a page from hip-hop guys like Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and will be releasing the new album, Cold Beer Conversation, with nearly no notice.
As for his record Cold Beer Conversation, Strait believes – as he always believes – that the new record is among the best he’s put out during his prolific career.
Country music star George Strait will be the first performer to play the new Las Vegas Arena when it opens next year.
Strait will play Las Vegas starting on April 22-23 and again on September 9-10.
Tickets for the concert series start at $75 and go on sale October. 2.
“This is an exciting announcement for the Las Vegas Arena, and another example of why Las Vegas is the Entertainment Capital of the World”, said Rick Arpin, senior vice president of entertainment and development, MGM Resorts global.
The “Troubadour” singer now joins a slew of country acts who have performed or are currently performing in Las Vegas, including Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn and The Judds. Kacey Musgraves was chosen as the show opener.
“I wish I would have stuck a phone in his shirt, as ridiculous as that may sound”, said Strait. He has since sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and is considered the “King of Country” by many due to his prolific career. When he came off the road in June 2014, having played the final show of his two-year The Cowboy Rides Away Tour at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, “the stress level totally dropped”.
“… I’m also very excited to be coming back out and playing for the fans out there”, Strait says. I’m looking forward to it so much.
