Today’s Xbox One Update Is Preparation for Backwards Compatibility and
Polygon reports that the new firmware for Xbox One that will be available for download this week will not feature any significant User Interface changes.
And those fans were given some good news today when, speaking on Twitter, Criterion confirmed that they are in talks of making Burnout Paradise playable on the Xbox One via its Xbox 360 backwards compatibility.
Spencer also discussed how backward compatibility works, detailing the reason why having Xbox One completely able to emulate 360 operative system was the best choice in terms of technology.
The streaming feature will go public with the release of Window 10 on July 29. However, the feature is still in testing as of the moment, and it will be widely available to Xbox One users later this year. The Xbox App on Windows 10 has potential and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Xbox and Windows.
Here’s hoping that Burnout Paradise will soon be added to Microsoft’s master list of approximately 100 backwards compatible games, because it really is a gem. As far as we’re aware, the deals have already started so head to the Xbox Marketplace and check out the games on discount.
I don’t think Burnout being relatively low on the list means fans wouldn’t want to play it. It was, after all, one of the most acclaimed racing games of the last console generation.
According to Major Nelson, the Xbox team is now focused on the new UI overhaul, which is scheduled for release this fall.
