‘Forest of cannabis’ found growing in London
However, despite its neatly hidden location, its expanse is quite big, with the forest reaching just a few streets away from university halls of residence and a sixth-form college, reports the Daily Mail.
A “forest” of cannabis about the size of a soccer field has been discovered by police in the United Kingdom, the British news site BBC reported Friday.
Officers secured the scene and are making arrangements to destroy the plants. They found a huge cannabis field in a remote area which takes a 20-minute walk through wasteland to get to. Law Enforcement expected to find a few cannabis plants, but instead they stumbled on a forest.
“But all their time, trouble and gardening skills will go unrewarded, as the whole lot will now be destroyed by police”, she added.
In response two local police sergeants tweeted: “Welcome to the leafy suburbs of Kingston!”
Apparently, it was a member of the public who first discovered the plantation quite by chance and who contacted authorities to let them know that they might want to search the area.
Police are urging anyone with information about the plants to call 101.
Officers said it’s the size of a football pitch, with plants up to five-foot-tall.
How this cannabis forest managed to avoid detection for so long is beyond us.
There have been no arrests, and inquires continue to find those responsible for cultivating the plants.
