Amy Schumer signs 9m book deal
Sources tell THR that the agreement includes a $9 million advance.
Schumer’s book talks about her childhood, her family, how she got a break in comedy and feminism, according to Publishers Weekly.
“Believe it or not, there’s actually more I have to say”. The publisher has yet to determine the book’s final title but “Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo” was the working title used in the proposal.
Schumer also recently received praise for a speech she delivered at the Gloria Awards earlier this year.
In truth, much of Schumer’s success is linked to the fact that she has no qualms about sharing anything and everything about her private life with audiences, no matter how intimate.
Like Fey, Schumer has proven her durability.
Gallery Books revealed in a statement that it also “will feature personal and observational stories from Schumer that range from the raunchy to the romantic, the heartfelt to the harrowing”.
Amy Schumer’s jokes have been heard on television and in movies and read on Twitter and soon we can read them in book form.
Schumer’s agent had been shopping the book deal around with major publishing houses and it seems the final and winning bid came in between $8-10 million from Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery Books.
