Taylor Swift to welcome surprise guest Steven Tyler at Friday night’s
Taylor Swift turned to legendary rock star Steven Tyler of Aerosmith for assistance during her visit to Nashville on Friday, September 25. Now, in reference to that message, Tyler wrote to the songstress, “WELL Massachusetts DARLIN’…YOU SURE WERE OVERSTOOD TONIGHT! So inspired by how sweet he was to all of us”, Taylor tweeted. Swift has another show at the Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night, but it remains to see who her guests will be.
Tyler emerged later in the show, joining Swift to perform the classic Aerosmith ballad, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”, which the 70s rockers recorded for the soundtrack to Armageddon.
She also performed with country singer Kelsea Ballerini, 22. “Please make some noise for my friend, I wish she was my sister, Kelsea Ballerini“. Tyler and Swift traded verses on the rousing, pyrotechnic-filled rendition, which closed out with the two singers dancing together onstage.
Tyler has been in Nashville since January working with songwriters on material for his debut solo album, which he recently said he’s hoping to release by “February or so” of 2016, with plans to support it with a tour before heading out on an Aerosmith trek later in the year.
The longer Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour wears on, the more its proceedings feel like the YouTube video “Please Welcome to the Stage”, which “predicts” who Taylor brings on stage next: “Please welcome to the stage, the hologram of Maya Angelou!”
