Given the front and back view of the characters, is there a time in your life when you said, why am I so anxious?
It was reported that the actor was not pleased when Brockes brought up the issue about Tribeca, a New York film festival that De Niro co-founded. But now the actress says she “did something bad”. Brolin- who may or may not have been referring to his Gangster Squad co-star Ryan Gosling-continued, “I was like, Holy shit, he’s actually doing De Niro“.
And as for that bonding experience with De Niro, it turns out it was more than a shopping trip. He has been in comedies before, but usually as a tough guy.
Perhaps audiences are looking for something different from the genre.
The Intern is adorable, and I’m not just talking about Robert De Niro and his portrayal of a senior (citizen) intern at a start-up website.
Under the guidance of founder Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway) the company has exploded in the last 18 months, expanding from 25 to 220 employees. He favors suits and ties and always has a handkerchief at the ready for any lady in need.
“Do you have a smartphone?”
“I just want to thank [director Nancy Meyers] so much”. He digs into his sports jacket pocket and pulls out an iPhone. Because of our movie, I went out of my way to pay her a little extra attention. Again, he said: “I’m not doing this darling”.
“Hey, I wish”, he says with a smile. “The writing process takes a while and I also like to take a year off after a movie. This is a very cozy film”. Movies like “Something’s Gotta Give” and “It’s Complicated” have shown she’s got the skills to create perfectly pleasant entertainment from the interpersonal conundrums of well-heeled white people. It was a great first job. “I don’t know that we’ve had a movie like that in a long time that can appeal to people of every age group”.
The Hollywood veteran recently sat down for a chat with Radio Times writer Emma Brockes, but the atmosphere turned frosty as he became irritated by her line of questioning.
