Goa CM rules out banning Sanatan Sanstha
Mumbai: Under a cloud after one of its activists was nabbed for the murder of Communist leader Govind Pansare, right-wing group Sanatan Sanstha on Friday claimed it was being targeted by political parties with a design to malign its image.
Last week, the Sanatan Prabhat penned an article warning Wagle on airing his views.
“The Sanstha has learnt a lot submit 2009…”, Marathe stated. “He (Wagle) has always been projecting us as terrorists”. Predictably, the effort is to project him and possible others as lone rangers acting on hurt sentiment, ignoring the thrust and threats of the organisation itself.
According to sources within the SIT, Superintendent of Police of the Karnataka Central Investigation Department (CID), S. Rajappa, along with other officials interrogated Gaikwad in connection with Kalburgi murder in Dharwad, the circumstances of which were strikingly similar to those of. Police said Gaikwad has some criminal backgound. The Sanstha considered Dabholkar and Pansare as “unrighteous individuals who ridicule Dharma, deities…”, clearly identifying them as enemies of the faith.
He said the Congress government never gave clean chit to Sanatan Sanstha. Just because there is suspicion on one person we can not blame the organisation (Sanatan Sanstha) which he is associated with. It endeavours to achieve this goal through activities that include free-of-charge lectures and weekly satsangs, moral science classes for children (not clear if these are also free of charge), and through VCDs, DVDs and printed literature. “Based on their report, we will take our stand on banning the organisation”, he said.
The Mumbai ATS had chargesheeted six members of the Sanatan Sanstha and its front, the Hindu Janjagriti Samiti, in connection with the blasts.
What sort of brushes with the law?
“Police have also launched a manhunt for Pravin Limkar, a suspect in 2009 Madgoan blast case, along with Rudra Patil and Sarang Kulkarni (also suspected accused in Madgaon blast case)”, a police officer said on condition of anonymity. The present BJP government does not appear serious in its intention to ban Sanatan, which might indulge in more violent acts.
For years, as it spewed such diatribes, the Sanstha was considered a fringe element.
“The last document we sent to the MHA (Union home ministry) was a 1,000-page dossier…in May 2014”, Chavan said.
