Roy Nelson – Fight Night Japan First Person
Roy Nelson says he has no intentions of deviating from his long-standing approach to mixed martial arts against Josh Barnett at UFC Fight Night 75 in Japan’s Saitama Super Arena on September 27.
Below is everything you need to know about the fighters for the evening, plus the tale of the tape and a full statistcial breakdown of the competitiors and event.
Barnett will meet Nelson on Saturday in Saitama, Japan, which will mark the first time he’s fought since December, 2013, when he was KO’d by Travis Browne. Yamamoto hasn’t tasted victory since May 2010, when he knocked out Federico Lopez at Dream 14. Nelson says this won’t affect his hunt for a fight-finishing punch in any way.
Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto stands in the Octagon during his bout with Darren Uyenoyama during the UFC on FOX event at the Honda Center on November 12, 2011 in Anaheim, California.
In middleweight action, Mousasi will be looking to earn his third straight victory when he squares-off with Hall on Saturday, but defeating an un-ranked opponent won’t improve his already unlikely chances of earning a title shot. “That’s who Mousasi is facing?” match-up, the former Strikeforce champ and No. 6-ranked middleweight will instead face Uriah Hall, who steps up on short notice after registering a first-round win over Oluwale Bamgbose last month in Nashville.
The reduced fight card means that there will be no bouts on UFC Fight Pass. There will be four preliminary bouts on FOX Sports 2, with a six-bout main card on FOX Sports 1.
