Edin Dzeko and Francesco Totti face spell on the sidelines for Roma
Edin Dzeko and Francesco Totti are both facing spells on the sidelines after picking up injuries in Roma’s hammering of Carpi on Saturday.
The Bosian striker, who is on loan from Manchester City, picked up the injury during Saturday’s 5-1 thumping of Carpi in Serie A and is now set to miss key fixtures for club and coutry.
Dzeko underwent tests on Sunday and was found to have a problem with the collateral ligament in his right knee.
Captain Totti was forced off the pitch early in the second half after straining his right hip flexor and will be missing for a month.
Roma said their No.10, who scored his 300th goal for the club against Sassuolo last weekend, would be assessed further over the next two days.
“It could have gone better on my birthday, but that’s football”, Totti told reporters.
Although BATE have never beaten Italian opposition, they are bidding for a fourth consecutive home victory in the competition having accounted for Dundalk, Videoton and Partizan Belgrade in the qualifying rounds and play-offs.
