Mourinho launches new Wenger attack
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has belittled Jose Mourinho’s achievements at Chelsea by suggesting Claudio Ranieri laid the foundations for their decade of success.
In response to this, Mourinho said, “In this country, only one manager is not under pressure”.
“Manuel Pellegrini, Brendan Rodgers, Steve McClaren“. I have sympathy with all of them because it’s a hard job.
“These is one that for some reason is outside that list, but good for him“. “Good luck to him”.
“I can say yes, I’m surprised”, he said.
And he also claims Ranieri – dubbed the Tinkerman for constantly changing his formation and line-up – deserves more respect for the job he did at Chelsea before Mourinho took over in 2004. “It’s a privilege”.
They will have to do without defender Gabriel Paulista for the trip to Leicester after he was handed a one-game ban for his confrontation with Chelsea’s Diego Costa.
Meanwhile, the FA rescinded a ban for Gunners defender Gabriel, who was sent off for his exchange with Costa.
As Mourinho dodged numerous questions on the FA’s decision to hand Costa a three-game suspension, as he came up with an ingenious way to poke fun at the Arsenal manager with these comments.
Mourinho, who is without the suspended Diego Costa, said he will make a choice based on what he thinks the hosts’ line-up might be. In the rules book, it says some managers can speak about the referee before the game or after the game. “It’s an imaginary list, but clearly [you know what I mean]”.
Even Wenger, at the time, said his player’s conduct merited dismissal. I want to speak about the future from Arsenal.
The Chelsea manager has been in especially cranky form this season, and last week’s win 2-0 win over Arsenal has done nothing to appease the “Special One”.
Both strikers started in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup clash with Walsall, but only the Frenchman managed to find the net.
Mourinho will be without Costa for the visit to Newcastle, with either Radamel Falcao or former Newcastle striker Loic Remy set to lead the line. “But Monaco’s statement was that two players would not move: Martial and Kurzawa so I thought they would maintain that”.
‘Now we know it isn’t always.
“If you want to play, you have first to be together”.
The young forward has made a flying start to life in English football, with four goals in four games a greater return than anyone was expecting this early into his United career.
And he mocked the 65-year-old by adding “there are those who follow the players and those who buy them”.
