Ohio Gov. John Kasich presidential campaign returning to South Carolina
Gov. John Kasich’s administration already is in contact with Secretary of State Jon Husted to determine the details for a special election to replace U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, after his surprise resignation.
Kasich is scheduled to participate later that day in a town hall meeting hosted by the Citadel Republican Society in Buyer Auditorium at The Citadel in Charleston.
But Kasich said there is not “any ideal party or any flawless politician. We don’t want to disrespect anybody in any of the states whether it’s Iowa or whether it’s South Carolina”, Kasich said. “We’re here to help the drug-addicted get rehab, the mentally ill to get on their feet, the working poor to have some healthcare so they don’t have to spend some time in the emergency rooms”.
“We want to perform well there but we also have a very strong focus on New Hampshire”, said Weaver, who helped devised McCain’s strategy in 2000. “I know how we’ve got to get Washington fixed”. Kasich has focused his efforts on Myrtle Beach, Charleston and Hilton Head hoping to ignite a response among the scores of retired people from the Midwest.
Candidates who have never held elected office, such as Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, are now atop the GOP field in many polls.
“I don’t think that it’s so critical that we have to have some exact time as to when it’s going to happen, and if I tried to give you a number, I wouldn’t be telling you the truth because we haven’t worked all the numbers out”, Kasich said.
