Saints QB Brees confident he’ll be able to play vs. Panthers
Sean Wagner-McGough of CBS Sports reported that even through Brees has this injury he is “pretty confident” that he will be able to play against Carolina.
“I have every intention of playing, but I do have to take it day-to-day”, Brees said after practice Wednesday. The injury clearly affected Brees during the loss, as he threw uncharacteristically wild passes in the 26-19 loss.
“That’s always going to be a special memory for me”, Benwikere said. We feel like when we get a turnover and all of the momentum is on our side, we just feel like we can’t not score. That would the New Orleans Saints. We’ll see what the light’s real source is, and soon.
Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton (1) celebrates his touchdown pass with Derek Anderson (3) and Joe … Brees fumbled the ball, but the Saints recovered it. With that in mind, this is a look at what the Panthers must do if they are to find themselves 3-0 come Monday.
Here some other things to consider in this matchup.
Carolina Panthers standout middle linebacker Luke Kuechly missed practice again and still hasn’t cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol. This is largely due to the Panthers limiting their opponents’ #1 WRs, as Allen Robinson and DeAndre Hopkins combined to catch just 6 out of 17 targets for 80 yards against the Panthers. The New Orleans offense has had enough issues through the first two games that a backup quarterback has to inspire confidence the moment he enters the huddle. The result has been more third-and-long situations, but also forced their offense to become one-dimensional, and by extension, predictable. There’s a lot more plays, a lot more options, ” Strief said.
Running back C.J. Spiller starred at Clemson from 2006-2009, and he led the ACC in all-purpose yards with 7,558 in his career, which ranks second in NCAA Division I history.
A 12-year National Football League veteran, McCown says he has learned he must prepare each week as if he’s the starter in order to be ready, and says this week is no different.
First things first, both the Panthers and Saints have injury questions that are going to determine just how strong their units are on Sunday. No, this isn’t an elite stop unit by any stretch of the imagination, but they are clearly better than they have been – a unit that has allowed at least 33 points per game in every year since 2010. The Saints have not done much to replace him, leaving Ben Watson and Josh Hill as their TE duo. Aside from managing just three sacks and no interceptions thus far, their tackling efforts vs. the Bucs on Sunday were painful to watch. Delvin Breaux, who played two years in Canada, has started at cornerback while the Saints await the return of Keenan Lewis.
“I don’t want to miss a game”.
