City grew into the game a bit and De Bruyne had his first shot of his second spell in the Premier League, but fired straight at Alex McCarthy after some quick build-up play by City.
Alan Pardew’s side sit in fourth in the table after five games, with nine points and their only defeats of the season coming against Arsenal and City.

Iheanacho does not even qualify for the B list for City’s Champions League campaign, which begins against Juventus at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow, yet here was one of those moments that the leaders will look back on fondly if they lift the title in May. Pellegrini said of Dann’s challenge: “Sometimes you must show the red card immediately because you know the intention of the player, just to make him fall down”.
Praising Saturday’s opposition as a “great team”, the Nigerian declared that he will attempt to do his best whenever given the chance for City, and that he is hoping to “do great” for the team.
“The fans were insane when I scored the goal – all of them”, he added.
Pellegrini now sees him as an important player for the team and actually wanted to test him out at the end of last season but his debut was suspended after he suffered an injury.
