RGIII’s Father Sentenced For Reckless Driving
Robert Griffin Jr., the father of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for reckless driving.
Griffin Jr. was pulled over just after 6 a.m. on August. 2 for going 115 miles per hour in an area where the speed limit was 60 miles per hour.
Griffin’s attorney, Benjamin Kavanagh, confirmed that his client is the quarterback’s father but declined further comment.
A Hampton (Va.) District Court judge found Griffin guilty Wednesday and ordered him to serve 60 days in jail, with 50 days suspended.

Griffin was ticketed during the first weekend of this year’s two and a half week Redskins’ summer training camp in Richmond. Griffin Jr. will be allowed to serve his 10-day sentence over a period of consecutive weekends, beginning on October. 2. There was also speculation the elder Griffin was creating a nuisance by meddling in the team’s affairs.
