Airline evacuates entire flight after tarantula escapes from hold
According to CNN on Friday, passengers scheduled to board a Delta flight from Baltimore to Atlanta thankfully avoided a potential in-flight run-in with a tarantula as the passengers were moved to another airplane after the spider was spotted crawling around.
In what has to be a first for the airline industry, Delta Air Lines on Wednesday night issued a tarantula cancellation of a flight. The plane would be delayed overnight, searched, and declared tarantula-free before hitting the skies again, Kruse explained.
“Safety and security are our top priority”, Kruse adds to the Sunday.
There are a multitude of reasons your flight might be canceled or delayed – but a spider?
Delta noted that none of their passengers saw it in the cabin and that during the search, no more of the hairy, eight-legged creatures were found. Apparently, the flight was carrying some, uh, extra passengers. They are all the more risky since their hairs are invisible and there is nothing that passengers can do to avoid them. They are from Africa, are burnt orange, and have a nice set of fangs.
The species is aggressive and defensive, and their bites can be serious for humans.
A lot of them have venom, but it isn’t often deadly.
We’ve all heard of Snakes on a Plane but how about spiders?
