Jose Mourinho makes thinly veiled attack on ‘crying’ Arsene Wenger as Chelsea
Mourinho even slammed the Frenchman in his pre-match press conference ahead of the tie against Newcastle, suggesting that only one manager in the entire league was not under pressure.
“I am under pressure, Steve is under pressure, (Manuel) Pellegrini is under pressure, Brendan (Rodgers) too“. I have sympathy with all of them because it’s a hard job. “Good for him“. “It is not normal, but I have nothing more to say”.
The Chelsea manager also mocked Wenger who “can moan, can cry in the morning, in the afternoon, and nothing happens”.
“He cannot achieve, keep the job, still the king. It’s a privilege”.
Costa put his hands in Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny’s face during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Arsenal before clashing with Gabriel, who was sent off.
A statement from the FA read: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct“.
After the game Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger expressed his disappointment with referee decision about the incident between Gabriel and Costa.
Mourinho claims he will make a final decision on his number nine after studying the rival.
“If I answer I am going to be suspended”. “I don’t want to touch that because I want to sit on the bench”.
“And I am in the list of managers who get punished before or after the game. It is an imaginary list but clearly it is there”.
Wenger was then asked about his own pursuit of Martial and he revealed he had been told by Monaco that neither Martial nor full-back Layvin Kurzawa would be leaving the club.
And he reported a clean bill of health for his squad without saying whether Loic Remy or Radamel Falcao would stand in for Costa on Tyneside.
“I never saw him so much as someone who always changed his teams but somebody finds a name and everyone thinks he is only that”.
Sanchez, champion of the Copa America tournament with Chile last July, has yet to score a goal for Arsenal in the seven matches he has played so far.
He will be looking for his third win of the season against Newcastle United come tomorrow.
“There are things in every sport that we can learn from them, but football has a reputation for softness that is not true”.
“For us, it is important to stay there and try to maintain it. Our fans can dream, we have to stay very calm and work very hard, as a defeat is always around the corner”.
