Beyoncé and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder cover Bob Marley’s ‘Redemption Song’
Pearl Jam certainly knows how to make the most of a limited time slot as the legendary rockers put on yet another electric show as the headliners at the annual Global Citizen Festival in New York City’s Central Park.
Another high point in the concert was when Queen Bey jointed Pearl Jam on stage to perform Bob Marley’s classic “Redemption Song“.
As effect Of Sound reports, Queen Bee was invited on stage by, uh, King V, during Pearl Jam’s headline set at the poverty awareness event, and after a nice firm handshake, went on to share vocals on the track.
The intimate performance featured just the two stars, alternating verses as Vedder accompanied them on an acoustic guitar. Later during the festival, Beyonce performed a full-hour set of her hits (see below).
The “Redemption Song” performance was punctuated by a video of Nelson Mandela delivering a stirring speech about humanity overcoming poverty.
Beyonce also made a surprise drop-in at last year’s Global Citizen Fest, appearing in her husband Jay-Z’s set for “Holy Grail” and “Young Forever”.
