WWE Summerslam Returning To Brooklyn In 2016 & 2017; Barclays Center To Host
Well, according to the New York Daily News, SummerSlam will be returning to the Barclays Center in 2016 and 2017.
Barclays Center will again host WWE SummerSlam, Monday Night Raw and NXT on three consecutive nights each of the next two years, like this year’s run Saturday through Monday. The three night sell-out has changed WWE’s way of doing business, giving the company a new business model for maximising success over event weekends. This is following on from the big success with hosting NXT, SummerSlam and Raw in the building this year. “We’re thankful for WWE’s commitment to Brooklyn, and look forward to a long partnership that benefits the City”.
Last month’s SummerSlam had World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins snatch John Cena’s United States title with a little help from Jon Stewart, before the raucous Brooklyn crowd, in addition to The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar delivering another epic match.
Barclays Center will provide a great environment for WWE shows for the next few years.
WWE will stick to that concept the next two years, with the NXT-SummerSlam-Raw trifecta going to Barclays Aug. 20-22 in 2016 and Aug. 19-21 in 2017. SummerSlam Week in Brooklyn will feature a series of activities including fan events, autograph signings, WWE’s Be a STAR anti-bullying rallies, hospital visits and other community outreach programs created to leave a lasting impact throughout the region.
