2 stabbed, 1 fatally, in front of Glendale courthouse
A man was stabbed to death outside the Glendale Courthouse early Monday in an incident that left another man hospitalized, police said. Police say the dead man matches the description.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, the stabbing victim in front of the courthouse was pronounced dead and the other victim was transported to a local trauma center in unknown condition, officials confirmed.
Few details were immediately available about the fatal stabbing, but investigators believed there was some sort of confrontation between the two individuals before each was stabbed, according to Glendale Police Department Sgt. Robert William.
William says investigators have not found any witnesses. Following the altercation, the surviving victim, described as a man in his 30s, managed to make his way to the nearby Glendale Police Department and used a call box to ask for help. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, William said.
A knife has been recovered at the scene.
It is unclear whether the courthouse will open its doors to the public due to the ongoing police investigation.
The bloody crime scene has prompted police to shut down the streets surrounding the city’s Civic Center and City Hall.
The front of the courthouse will remain closed this morning as the investigation continues, William told KTLA5.
