Fossil teases upcoming Android Wear smartwatch, launching this holiday season
Fossil, the well-established fashion brand, has just announced three new smartwatch devices it’s created with Google and Intel.
At its annual developer conference last month, Intel mentioned it would be working with Fossil on a few connected wearable devices.
Intel’s partnership with Fossil and Apple’s with Hermès both prove that wearable makers are not only focusing on the function of their devices, but the fashion of them too. The line consists of a bracelet that can be connected to a smartphone, a non-display watch that can also be connected, and a round face display watch that will be running on Android Wear.
“With a round face and classic bands, our display watch proves that a connected timepiece can be as fashionable as its integrated software is functional”, the blog post said.
Fossil may seem like a new player in the smartwatch arena but it actually isn’t. We also know its name, meet the Q. Another detail of note is that each device will let users “join a community of curious-minded individuals”, possibly hinting at an online community for Fossil customers. Unlike the traditional tech companies selling watches, Fossil has brand awareness and broad distribution channels in the watch industry, which could help sales. It’s likely that the range of Fossil Q wearables will be incorporated into this campaign as well.
Expect the Fossil Q line to be available this holiday season.
