Carl Icahn endorses Donald Trump: ‘He’s the only candidate that speaks out
Donald Trump has been endorsed by billionaire investor vehicle Icahn in the latest boost to his presidential ambitions.
Icahn singled out junk bonds, real estate and art as being in bubbles and has told several news outlets that he has never been more hedged against a market crash than he is today. “I think at this moment in time, he’s the only candidate that speaks out about the country’s problems”, Icahn said.
Icahn said Trump may be brash but “he’s willing to say what he believes and he’s willing to say this is complete bulls***”.
“I’m behind Trump… the basic thing is, you need somebody that can get things going in Congress, and I think he can do it. You need somebody that understands business, and I think he understands it”.
In August, Trump asked the businessman to serve as his Treasury Secretary if elected president.
“I have my day job”, Icahn said at the time, according to USA Today. “I thought I made that clear, but maybe I didn’t”.
Icahn will be releasing a new video at midnight called “Danger Ahead” where he’ll discuss what he sees as critical matters we’re facing both in the corporate boardroom and in Washington, D.C. The trailer begins with clips of Icahn issuing various warnings over the state of the financial markets over some ominous music and ends with him sitting at a desk.
