Newton’s 3 TDs lead Panthers past Saints 27-22
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton felt miffed Sunday about a no-call on what he believed should have been a personal foul against the New Orleans Saints’ Tyeler Davison. “But for his response to be what it was and I’m not old enough to get that call…Geez!”
In the interview Monday, Blandino says he spoke with Hochuli and “Ed was adamant that he did not say that”. What this means is that, on borderline roughing the passer plays, your Tom Bradys and Peyton Mannings will get the flag, while your Jameis Winstons and Johnny Manziels will not.
Cam Newton has landed his own Nickelodeon show, where the National Football League star will be helping kids to accomplish their dreams on a series titled, I Wanna Be. “Outside the pocket you don’t get the two-step protection, and so when you look at the play, Cam threw on the run, there was some contact, it wasn’t late and it wasn’t a foul”. “Time in the spotlight has made me realize the importance of creating positive messages to inspire the next generation”.
“Jesus. I didn’t think you had to have seniority to get a personal foul or anything like that”, Newton said when talking about the no-call.
Obviously, the official rules are supposed to be the same for everybody, which is why this sort of thing goes unspoken. The defensive lineman kind of hit me. “They are going to have a long day man”. I’m ticked off, really… “If he would have said he missed the call, that is one thing”.
“I don’t get overly wrapped up in catches and fantasy football issues, it’s not the way I view the tight end position. I can see why, yeah, of course, he’s going to want the call”.
Luke McCown, starting in place of the injured Drew Brees, completed 31 of 38 passes for 310 yards but it wasn’t enough to save the Saints (0-3) from falling three games back in the NFC South.
“He told me that he said that, ‘The difference is you were running, ‘” Blandino said.
Meanwhile, the Saints were increasingly hopeful about the possible returns of cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip) and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (toe), who have not played yet this season.
