Monkey jumps on top of woman’s auto in Sanford
A monkey that was on the loose in a Sanford neighborhood has been reunited with its owner Monday, Channel 9 has learned.
The owner was cited for needing to update his critical incident plan and clean some rust on his cage.
Residents of the Hidden Lakes neighborhood called the authorities after observing the macaque perched on a mailbox, chowing on important documents and coupons.
Officers used a patrol auto to block off the road and shook a water bottle in an attempt to lure the monkey away from the busy street.
Incidentally, Zeek was not the only monkey on the loose in central Florida.
Zeek jumped on the officers’ squad vehicle and pulled some molding off the exterior roof.
It is unclear how Zeke escaped the owner’s home, but it’s not the first time.
An officer snapped a photo of the monkey, later identified as Zeek, casually eating the contents of a mailbox in front of one of the homes. “We were able to distract Zeek with a bottle of water until his owner came and retrieved him”, the Facebook statement continued.
“Zeek had a little fun with our patrol auto”, the officers posted about one video.
This may seem like it’s going to be the most unusual 911 call of the day, but Cordingly said: “It’s still early yet”.
