An investigation is under way, sources added.
A hospital official in Diyarbakir said the children were hurt by the bomb in the city’s historic district of Sur, scene of recent street clashes between security forces and the PKK. A search for the perpetrators is continuing.
Meanwhile, four terrorists were killed and a PKK hideout used for making explosives was destroyed in an operation by the army in the Tendürek Mountains of Ağrı province, according to a statement by the Ağrı Governor’s Office on Monday.
In another explosion by PKK terrorists, five soldiers were lightly injured in Turkey’s eastern Bitlis province.
On Monday, suspected PKK rebels detonated a bomb on a road in the mainly Kurdish Bitlis province, injuring some 20 soldiers riding in a military vehicle, the private Dogan news agency reported.
Earlier in the day, five soldiers were injured in the town of Tatvan when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb, security sources said. Their condition is non-life-threatening.
In response the group – blacklisted as a terrorist organisation by Turkey and much of the worldwide community – has launched bloody attacks on security forces.
“The PKK carried out during the last few hours several operations against the Turkish army and police positions in Chernakh area near the Iraqi border, which resulted in the killing of 75 Turkish soldiers and policemen”, a spokesman for the armed wing of the political group told Iraqi News portal on Sunday.
According to Turkish government figures, the PKK has killed around 30 civilians since July and more than 120 members of the security forces.
