Ed Hochuli denies telling Cam Newton he “wasn’t old enough”
“Ed was adamant that he did not say that”, Blandino said.
“The response that I got was, ‘Cam, you’re not old enough to get that call, ‘” Newton said at his postgame press conference Sunday. So heaven forbid he gets any rookies.
“We don’t know how long any of us have, but the doctors were only estimating three to four weeks based on the rapid growth of his cancer”, she said.
It’s not terribly uncommon to hear players complain about calls, but what Newton said was interesting because he claimed that referee Ed Hochuli failed to call a personal foul penalty on the Saints after a hard hit by Tyeler Davison as a result of Newton’s age.
The process would include determining if anyone in the area had a microphone on and see if any comments were picked up. “But he’s adamant he didn’t say it, and I think that’s where we are right now and we’re just going to kind of move on from there”. It’s what’s the posture is and was it a violation.
Blandino also addressed the notion that veteran players are often favored by the officials. “So saying something to that effect is certainly something that is not appropriate”. “He said [to Newton] that the difference is you were running”.
Signora added: “On the play in question, there is no roughing the passer because the quarterback is out of the pocket and a runner, and no unnecessary roughness because the contact is not late”.
It was Newton’s 35th rushing touchdown of his career, tying him with Randall Cunningham and Steve Grogan for seventh-most in National Football League history by a quarterback. “And then for me, when it’s something around that same range and for that flag not to be called, I’m ticked off, really”.
A few days earlier, Newton had called Elijah to say hello and help lift his spirits, but he caught everyone off guard when he showed up at Friday night’s party – bringing with him an ice cream truck and 22 boxes of Elijah’s favorite dessert, brownies from Papa John’s Pizza.
Despite the fact New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees’ MRI came back negative on his shoulder, it is obvious he is not his typical productive self. “I saw it, and my eyes got big”.
The next closest is Matthew Stafford with 24, and Matt Ryan, Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck with 23.
