Seattle bus crash victims from four countries
“It happened so fast”, he said.
North Seattle College released the names of the worldwide students killed in the crash.
The NTSB has investigated other fatal accidents involving similar amphibious tour vehicles, but those happened in water.
The NTSB wants to speak to witnesses or those with information about the crash.
“There’s a powerful story they will share”, he said.
The other vehicle was an amphibious bus operated by a tour company called “Ride the Ducks”. “Our inspectors physically look at a sample of cars; the size of the sample is based on the company fleet”.
Brad Volm of Philadelphia was driving in another auto and said the amphibious vehicle’s left front tire seemed to lock up.
Critics have long warned that tourist duck boats – amphibious assault vehicles created to carry troops in World War II that were then recycled for use as sightseeing vehicles in the United States – have no place winding their way through USA cities. They issued a satisfactory rating.
Fatalities on a Seattle duck boat tour have turned national attention to the unusual vehicle’s safety, but government data indicates that more people die annually in golf carts than duck boats.
At a news conference Thursday evening, Murray said federal investigators would arrive Friday. “They will be looking for evidence, they will try to examine the vehicles”.
Weener says the agency wouldn’t speculate on what caused the crash and would work to determine that in the coming months.
A family from Fremont who was on board the duck boat that was involved in a deadly collision with a charter bus in Seattle spoke out about the frightening experience Friday.
The Aurora Bridge was closed throughout the day; it reopened about 12 hours later, after the wreckage of both vehicles were finally removed. Some witnesses have reported the Duck appeared to have a mechanical problem with a wheel right before it fishtailed, careened across the bridge’s centerline and slammed broadside into an oncoming Bellair Charters & Airporter bus. “It’s just sad. It’s heartbreaking”.
Duck boats are a quirky tourist ride with a unique history. A message left with the company’s president wasn’t immediately returned. Mr. Brown declined to disclose the identity of the fourth victim, from China, because she was a 17-year-old minor.
“Yesterday was one of the most hard days to be mayor”, Murray told the media afterward.
Traffic safety on the bridge, which has no median barrier, has been a concern of state and local officials.
A total of four people – all worldwide students from North Seattle College – were killed in Thursday’s accident. The college has been posting updates on its website. Many had been treated and released by Friday morning.
Students and staff from North Seattle College’s worldwide Program were involved in the deadly crash between a charter bus and an amphibious tour vehicle. “Hearing the impact, that was the scariest part”. “I was like, ‘Oh my God”.
The crash has shaken the diverse school of about 14,000 students, Brown said.
“We’ll figure this out together”. She found out about the crash when another student messaged her on Facebook.
“I was scared”, he said. The school said she hailed from China.
At least two other people were critically hurt.
“I heard him say ‘oh no!’ I said, we’re in trouble”.
“We’re just trying to relax today”, he said, shaking his head.
“Please write a supportive message to the people who lost a family member or friend in the tragic bus accident”, a sign on the table says.
