Baby Bella’s father speaks
Rachelle Dee Bond is arraigned on charges of acting after the fact in helping to dispose of the body of her daughter, the girl dubbed Baby Doe, in Dorchester District Court, on Monday, September,21, 2015, in Boston. He made the emotional outburst as McCarthy was escorted out of court following the Monday hearing.
The 35-year-old McCarthy allegedly punched Bella Bond. McCarthy is charged with Bella Bond’s murder; Rachelle Bond is charged with accessory after the fact.
Bella’s biological father, Joseph Amoroso, said in media interviews that Rachelle Bond told him McCarthy killed their child.
Bond said one night late in May Bella was fussy and did not want to go to bed. When police told him that his story differed from Bond’s, McCarthy said Bond might be trying to “save her own ass”, denied having anything to do with Bella’s death and requested a lawyer.
According to Bond, McCarthy said, “She was a demon anyway”. Pleased to hear about it, he encouraged her that she might get Bella back. Her name was Bella Bond, and her body was found inside a trash bag on a Boston Harbor island in June.
Amoroso said he and his mother, who he claimed both complained to DCF about the child’s care, “knew Bella was in a bad situation”.
In addition to several restraining orders against her by her mother and her mother’s husband, Ms Bond has a “lengthy record of convictions”, Mr Deakin said.
As Deakin described the investigators’ findings in court, Bella’s godmother, Megan Fewtrell, yelled out to Bond: “I hope you rot in hell!”
The friend had lived with the couple and two-year-old Bella earlier this year for “one or two weeks”, but moved out because he was “appalled at his [McCarthy’s] treatment of her Bella]”. The friend told investigators he then texted McCarthy, urging him to “tell me it’s not true”.
A friend of the family told police that McCarthy had recently become interested in the occult.
A search of the couple’s home uncovered many books about spirits, ghosts and demonology.
After she was located in Lynn, Bond told law enforcement officials that she allegedly saw McCarthy murder her daughter after telling Bond that the child was “possessed by demons“.
During that court appearance, prosecutors revealed some of the circumstances surrounding Bella’s death.
Bond’s lawyer, Janice Bassil, asked the judge to set a low cash bail, $250, and allow her to be under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. Both are also charged with improper disposal of human remains. It wasn’t until last week that the girl was identified. They got their big break after Boston police received a tip. It was a friend of Mccarthy who went to police after talking with bond.
The arraignments of Bella’s mother, Rachelle Bond, 40 and McCarthy, 35, took place on Monday morning. “This sweep involved thousands of children”. We are also grateful for the expertise of several outside laboratories, including scientists from the Customs and Border Protection agency, the University of North Texas, and IsoForensics Inc.in Utah. The examiner hasn’t ruled out a manner of death that includes asphyxiation and suffocation, Deakin said. “I wish folks who were closer had reached out sooner, and we could have dealt with this”, he said. That man then relayed that information to his sister.
McCarthy attorney, however, contests the account, saying his client thought Bella was in the state’s custody, which is what the criminal complaint says he told police. Bond was not free to call 911 after Bella’s death, the attorney said, adding that McCarthy kept close watch over her.
