TRACKING: Flash Flood Watch issued for mountain counties
That rain, coupled with strong onshore winds and extreme high tides, could lead to flooding and beach erosion on the coast Wednesday into Thursday, the weather service says. Forecasters said there is a possibility that a few areas could be flooded by the rain.
Between 3 and 4 inches of rain are possible in a few spots, according to the weather service.
This combination of tropical moisture and the approaching cold front will allow for rain throughout the day with periods of heavy rainfall and even a few isolated thunderstorms will be possible.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the larger part of the viewing area including the northern panhandle effective until noon on Wednesday.
Rainy Tuesday: Scattered showers will be with us throughout the morning drive Tuesday, but they’ll be mostly light-to-moderate in nature.
“It’s too early right now to predict but a few models have the storm impacting our area Sunday into Monday”, Lee said.
There’s a slight chance of rain during the overnight hours.
The storm is expected to be heavy later this afternoon through the evening, before beginning to diminish on Wednesday.
The daytime temperature for the next several days are expected to rise into the low 60s. There will be a few more showers, but still more dry than wet spots.
