Schweinsteiger happy to help Martial and Memphis hit their
Bastian Schweinsteiger has only been with Manchester United for a few months, but he is already making some of the club’s younger players feel at home.
Louis van Gaal pulled off a coup this summer when he convinced the Germany captain to leave Bayern Munich and join his troops at Manchester United.
Bastian Schweinsteiger believes Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial have a bright future ahead of them at Manchester United and is ready to take both youngsters under his wing.
After seeing local rivals Manchester City thrashed 4-1 by Tottenham earlier in the day, United took to the field at Old Trafford knowing a victory over lowly Sunderland would see them leapfrog the Citizens into first place.
“They are both very young but both very talented”, he said. Now, he’s planning to share his knowledge and wisdom to his more inexperienced Reds colleagues.
United did not make a great start to the 2015-16 Premier League campaign, but in recent matches they have started to play well.
“They’re really good. Especially in the last two or three years, they’ve really developed themselves further”, Schweinsteiger said in comments posted to the Man U website. “Of course they have Volkswagen behind them, in the background, but they have a good team and a good coach”.
Schweinsteiger’s words will be welcomed in Wolfsburg, where the Wolves suffered a 5-1 battering by Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich last week, with striker Robert Lewandowski hitting the net five times in nine minutes.
