Marijuana bundle drops from sky, slams into family’s carport

Earlier this month, for instance, almost 24 pounds (11 kilograms) of marijuana neatly arranged in a flawless bundle dropped to the ground in the city of Nogales in Arizona.

Law enforcement officers suspect the marijuana package dropped either from a small plane or from an unmanned aerial vehicle while somebody was trying to smuggle it into the country.

He told the Daily Telegraph: “Someone definitely made a mistake, and who knows what the outcome of that mistake might be for them”.

The find has led to cops wondering whether the bundle was transported by an aircraft or a pilotless drone.

Nogales sits on the US border, and the house where the drugs crashed into the carport is about 1,000 feet from Mexico. Such runs usually occur at night.

According to a police report, there was a plastic bracket and black electrical tape attached to the bundle, and these attachments may have been all that was holding the cargo to the aircraft. “We have seen ultralight [plane] activity in our town before, but never seen a package that is assumed to be from an ultralight fall so close to the border”.

Hoping that the Mexican drug cartel won’t come searching for their lost bundle of joy, Maya Donnelly made sure to point out the drugs are now in police custody. They’ll take a couple, two, three bundles. “They come at nighttime and they don’t land, they just drop and go back to Mexico”, Arnson added. Arnson agreed but said police have boosted patrols in the Donnellys neighborhood for now.

The family will have to pay the estimated $500 in repairs, as well as pay for a new home for survivor Hulk.

But the incident could have been much worse for the couple and their three teenage daughters.

“Where it landed was clear on the other side of the house from the bedrooms”, Maya Donnelly said. She immediately called her husband, Bill, who told her to call 911.

“That’s what everybody says: ‘Why did you call 911?”‘ Maya Donnelly said.

Now their dog’s out a doghouse (it was crushed by the impact), some drug dealers are out some drugs, the Donnelly family is sober as a judge, and the miracle is locked up in an evidence room.
