Hodges cleared to play in NRL Grand Final
Steve Turner thinks that Justin Hodges will not get a suspension for his lifting tackle during the Broncos’ Preliminary Final win over the Roosters.
“Our basis issues with Suncorp Stadium are the wi-fi and the replay screens”, Betros told the Daily Telegraph.
The NRL judiciary is set to play the villain to the hopes of a fairytale finish to Broncos captain Justin Hodges career.
The Broncos will obviously argue that Guerra contributed significantly to the outcome and that Hodges only had hold of his leg and wasn’t trying to drive him into the turf – and you’ve got three ex-footballers who will have to decide.
Hodges also thanked Guerra, who testified to the judiciary that he jumped in the tackle to try to milk a penalty.
Brisbane will play the victor of tomorrow’s second preliminary final between the Melbourne Storm and the North Queensland Cowboys in the grand final, at Sydney’s Olympic Stadium on October 4.
Yes, I know, the Cowboys conceded zero points against Cronulla in week two of the finals, but that was understandable because the Sharks literally had nothing.
A brilliant chip-and-chase try by livewire five-eighth Anthony Milford in the 47th minute gave Brisbane a 26-12 lead they were never going to surrender in front of a vocal sellout crowd of 51,826.
At 6.30pm, following a final wrap-up by the Nine News team, the Grand Final action will officially get underway with a pre-game concert by Aussie rock legends Cold Chisel and a tribute to the players retiring in 2015. “He jumped in the tackle and I couldn’t do anything about it”.
‘Well I’m still able bodied, ‘ Guerra replied.
“Probably not the smartest decision”.
Judiciary chairman Geoff Bellew stopped Guerra’s evidence to ask the Queensland State of Origin representative to clarify what he was saying on a number of occasions.
Hodges’ defence counsel Nick Ghabar said that was primarily Guerra’s fault.
“He came here and spoke the truth”, Hodges said.
The start of the hearing was delayed by 44 minutes because McKenna’s, a former Maroons teammate of Hodges, plane from Brisbane was delayed.
