Tottenham rallies to beat Man City 4-1 in Premier League
Manuel Pellegrini has said he believes that Manchester City will eventually win the Champions League – but warned that the tournament must not become an “obsession”.
Manchester United exploited Manchester City’s 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur by beating Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday to replace their rivals at the top of the Premier League table.
Manchester City’s start to the season is beginning to feel suspiciously like it may have been a deception.
Pellegrini has failed to win the Champions League in his previous attempts with Real Madrid, Malaga or Villareal, but the Chilean is insistent that it is not as easy at it sounds.

“When we get going in our stadium and the fans get behind us, not many teams can stop us and you saw that today”, he said.
“We scored a goal and had two or three clear chances and Tottenham scored with their first shot”. We can discuss different things but in the end I think we fully deserved the victory. I don’t want to talk about the goals because it’s a mistake, the referee can make it.
“We didn’t play very well against West Ham United in the first half and we didn’t play well now in the second half“, City manager Manuel Pellegrini told BT Sport.
“One fake game in the Champions League and you can be out, while the Premier League is all about the work you do over the entire year”.
Erik Lamela coolly rounded the goalkeeper to add extra gloss to a win secured by the Premier League’s youngest line-up this season.
