Tom Brady’s Donald Trump endorsement just for ‘fun’
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady takes the field to warm up before an NFL football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sunday, September 27, 2015, in Foxborough, Mass.
Tom Brady clarified his stance on his relationship with Donald Trump, saying they are friends but that his comments that he allegedly endorsed Trump were blown out of proportion. It’s just him not endorsing the candidate publicly.
The Patriots quarterback says he will vote according to his own personal choice and admits he doesn’t really follow politics. “I don’t even know what the issues are”, he shared. I havent paid attention to politics in a long time, Brady said. “Because I think that’s something that is a reflection of the commitment that you make”. “It is means off my radar”. Though the two have known one another for a few time now, it doesn’t sound as if Trump supporters should hold their breath on seeing Brady hit the campaign trail to stump for his golfing buddy.
Brady, who said the wedding is in Boston, was then asked a hypothetical by host John Dennis on when the best bye week would normally be. “So I think you are just more careful with what you say because you don’t want a big headline with you saying something that’s going to take the attention away from your teammates or what you’re trying to do”. “Even an offhanded comment like that… that people may run with”, the 16-year veteran said on Boston radio station WEEI. It’s just people doing their job. “I try to have fun with certain things”. Seems like a slam-dunk hire for The Players Tribune.
“With (McDaniels) and I being together for as long as we have and having the chemistry that we have, we see things so much the same way now”, he said. Trump nodded and motioned to the phone and made sure I had my recorder running.
“(Trump) likes to win”, Brady said with a laugh, noting the presidential candidate’s well-known competitive streak and type-A personality.
