Suns’ Morris no longer upset with organization
On the court, he was called for 15 technical fouls last season (only Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook was whistled for more), and he got into a shouting match on the bench with coach Jeff Hornacek during a game.
Morris was publicly upset after the Suns traded his twin brother Marcus Morris to the Pistons and even demanded that he be traded as well.
“I want to be here”, Morris said while wearing his Suns No. 11 jersey for media day.
In recent months, Markieff Morris did everything in his power to express that there was no way he wanted to be a part of the Phoenix Suns for the 2015-16 season.
However, as it’s become totally apparent over recent weeks that the Suns were never going to deal with Morris’ trade request, he’s handled his obligation to join the team for training camp and is ready to put the disputes of the summer behind him. He went on to say, “I don’t really want to talk about what happened this summer”. Not only did Markieff directly tell all of us that he wants to be here, but he acknowledged his role on the team and his excitement to play with his teammates.
It could be recalled that the Phoenix Suns and Markieff Morris nearly had a falling out during the National Basketball Association offseason.
The front office made signings, trades and drafted to address shortcomings and improve chemistry.
“The summer hasn’t gone how we hoped it would in regards to him”, said Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough, referring to the debacle involving Markieff Morris, in an interview with Arizona Sports.
