Google Announces Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P
Google definitely needed to do something following its Motorola Nexus 6 flop a year ago.
Google has announced a range of new products, including two new phones, a new laptop tablet hybrid, an update to its Chromecast streaming device and a new audio only version of it. This particular model is not as powerful as the Huawei Nexus 6P, yet it comes with enough punch to handle most tasks.
The Nexus 5X is the successor to 2013’s Nexus 5, which was also built by LG and was the best selling Nexus phone so far.
The fingerprint sensor on the Nexus 6P which is named as “Nexus Imprint” is placed on the rear of the device makes us feel more secure about the privacy of the data. You miss out on little things like wireless charging, but you still get top of the line features like a fingerprint scanner, fast charging, Type-C port, and a big battery. We’ve contacted Google for comment and will update the article if we get a response. Google says that it will start shipping the handset in the United States in October through its official channel.
Pre order in the United Kingdom via the Google Store have already be opened, whilst O2 and EE have confirmed they will be stocking the device when it becomes available. It’ll also be a tad more expensive, starting at $US499 with 32GB of storage.
As you’d expect, the Nexus 5X is a 5.2-inch device once again offering a top bollocks phone for a fraction of the cost of other similar smartphones on the market. The Nexus 5X is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, the same chip now seen on LG’s flagship G4 smartphone. It also houses an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
It also includes a 2,700mAh battery, and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a, b, g, n, ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It also features Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor at the back. In addition, the company introduced a $69-worth Nexus Protect program wherein it will provide mechanical and accidental damage coverage for two years from the date of purchase.
The LG Nexus 5X will launch at $379.99 for the 16GB model in the U.S., with global availability expected to come at a few point.
