Brandon Robinson commits to North Carolina
The North Carolina Tar Heels have landed a commitment from ESPN 100 prospect Brandon Robinson on Monday.
Four-star shooting guard Brandon Robinson will reportedly decide where to play his college basketball on Monday and many think he will choose North Carolina. According to a local reporter onsite, Robinson cited UNC academics and Hubert Davis as key in his decision. He chose the Tar Heels over Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Louisville. Another Texas guard, four-star Andrew Jones, will make an official visit to Louisville this coming weekend for the Cards’ Red-White scrimmage.
76 overall prospect in the Class of 2016, Robinson was a starter on a very good Georgia Stars team that won the Nike Peach Jam in July. Duke recently picked up their third commitment from the 2016 class which just added to their number one ranking. Most importantly, Robinson isn’t a 2-guard through and through; he’s capable of playing the wing and as a lead guard, if need be.
North Carolina, a program expected to challenge for a national title this upcoming season, is in need of a few big commitments for its future.
His commitment comes less than a month after Tony Bradley, a 6-foot-10 center from Bartow, Fla., announced that he intends to play at UNC. A Final Four run and the NCAA passing on penalties for men’s basketball could have UNC’s recruiting back up to speed heading into the meat of the 2017 cycle.
