Recreational marijuana goes on sale Thursday in Oregon
Who can buy recreational marijuana in Oregon?
Though a few dispensaries may not qualify right away if they’re still in the application process and haven’t been approved, OHA spokesman Jonathan Modie said.
The state of Oregon is expunging marijuana violations from citizens’ records, according to a new report. The state tax should be 17% and local cities or counties can enact an additional 3% tax, bringing the total to 20%. Crushing the prohibitionist’s dreams, Oregonians overwhelmingly passed the ballot initiative that legalized the possession and cultivation of personal quantities of today’s hybrid marijuana. But state officials made a decision to allow early sales starting October 1, in order to give residents an option to legally purchase the drug.
Taylor’s group has sent a letter to dispensaries, asking them to pledge to maintain sufficient levels for medical marijuana patients and to serve patients first when there are recreational users in the store. To avoid a repeat of this, Oregon banned edibles from being sold until October 2016.
Colorado and Washington have both generated tens of millions of dollars in state tax revenue under their recreational marijuana programs.
Oregon’s medical marijuana dispensaries are getting ready for a watershed moment this week: when recreational pot users will also be able to buy weed at their pot shops.
Marijuana may be legal statewide, but that doesn’t mean municipalities have to allow the sale. While it is perfectly legal to use recreational marijuana at home or on private property – the public use of marijuana is still considered highly illegal.
Adults 21 and over will be allowed to buy up to 7 grams (1/4 ounce) of marijuana flower, per day. However, if this is the case, then surely people who are now sitting in jail for doing the same thing should not be forced to continue their sentences for something that they should never have been prosecuted for in the first place.
