New exploit for GTA Online on PC leaves game open to cheating
It may be inevitable that a popular online game will see its share of modding and cheating, but it’s never welcomed by those wanting to play a game clean, free from griefing and, for want of a better word, douchebaggery.
“Grand Theft Auto 6” (GTA 6) has not been officially announced as of yet, but that has not stopped fans from speculating about what the game might feature, including where the next installment might be taking place.
A modder on the se7ensins forum claims that Rockstar is about to reintroduce a system for creating temporary characters – something that can be exploited with new code scripting. LondonTown2004, the modder who identified the possible exploit, explains the opportunity…
A new GTA 5 exploit on PC has surfaced that could potentially allow individuals that had been banned from the game to make a return and that’s not even the worst part – Rockstar might not be able to do anything about it. Thanks to the reintroduction of temporary characters players can now subvert bans and cheat, troll and cause mischief to their hearts content.
This was a problem encountered on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game when temporary characters were introduced.
Cheating, modding and griefing became a massive problem with last gen GTA Online, generating thousands of complaints to Rockstar Games.
Cheaters have been a concern since the earliest days of online gaming and developers know what they are getting into when any game has an online component or a PC version.
It seems that sort of wayward shenanigans may be inflicted on PC gamers. Maintaining a healthy online community for GTA is a lot of work, but the game’s sales across all platforms have more than made up for the maintenance. Rockstar could already be working on a way to close up this exploit, but the modder who discovered it thinks it will tough for Rockstar to patch out. We’ll keep an eye on the situation and update with the fallout. Let us know in the comments.
